THE ROLE
The Researcher/Reporter is a part time project-based position. This person will work closely with the Asia Country Coordinator and Media Senior Editor to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community on media/advertising and other industries that may include technology, telecommunications and other topics. The ideal candidate will possess extensive industry contacts such as media buyers in the advertising industry and demonstrate the ability to develop new relationships with experts who can speak to strategic trends in the advertising industry with an emphasis on out of home advertising and online media. If candidate is not a native Chinese born speaker and citizen, those applicants must have the proper credentials and work permits to be employed in China. Applicants must be able to speak, interview, write and read Chinese with a high level of fluency. The Media Researcher reports to the Global Media Director.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Have experience working in or reporting on the China advertising industry with an emphasis on out of home advertising, online advertising, and media strategy.
A developed network of sources of media buyers or the proven ability to develop a strong source network.
Understanding how to connect the dots within the media industry is a must.
Established contacts or expertise in other industries is a plus.
The ability to speak, interview, write and read Chinese and English with a high level of fluency.
A native Chinese born speaker and citizen. If not, the proper credentials and work permits to be employed in China is a must.
Strong interviewing, writing and critical thinking skills.
The ability to work independently and ability to work from home is required.
Confidence in knowing what to do and asking questions when needed.
Understanding of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
Living in China is a must, preferably Shanghai.
