THE ROLE
The Consumer Retail China Researcher will work closely with the Global Consumer Retail Director and Asia Director to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community. The ideal candidate will possess extensive industry contacts and demonstrate the ability to develop new relationships with experts who can speak to strategic trends in the retail, restaurants and consumer products industries in the North China region.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Thorough understanding of the China retail and consumer market, with a background in one or more of the following areas: apparel and footwear, retail wholesale, restaurants and/or consumer products industry.
Extensive industry network of contacts in North China, beyond public relations and investor relations
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in retail and/or consumer products, investigative journalism experience a plus
The ability to analyze and identify essential findings; strategize and think broadly forward
Verbal and written English writing skills require, a knack for collecting and interpreting interview data and spotting discrepancies in a story
Native level Chinese spoken
Schedule flexibility is a must due to working with reporters and editors in different world time zones
The ability to maintain a positive attitude, self-motivation and confidence
Candidates with international experience are a plus
Candidate needs to be located in and work in China.
